Don’t Be Limited by Their Opinions

Can we talk…I mean really talk?

Sometimes, I find that its not the new people that you meet that brings uncertainty. It is the people that have known us the longest.

They have seen us at our best and worst of times.

And, sometimes, when we “start” a new journey or venture, they can recall how it succeeded or didn’t perform as well as we thought.

Without words we can tell their thoughts through body language, facial expressions (or the lack thereof).

Nevertheless, it can cause us to doubt ourselves. What we heard or believe we are supposed to be doing.

In this case, it could be homeschooling. Whether this is your first year or perhaps you have been homeschooling for someone time and things have happen. Let’s have a little story time about back when I started out homeschooling.

There was a woman who asked my husband about homeschool because a relative of hers had not faired well with homeschool and her child was not equipped to graduate - let alone go to college.

Needless to say, this person’s position/perspective on homeschool wasn’t positive.

Around the same time, others began to question my husband, if we’re going to put them in a “regular school” to prepare them for college. In their opinions they believed that our children should be in school.

However, I knew that this wasn’t God’s opinion or word because He told me to come home from my job to homeschool. God makes provision for the vision. And He uses brokenness to restore wholeness.

He makes crooked things straight. He uses base things to confound the wise. In other words, God doesn’t need your past to be spotless. He doesn’t need perfection; He doesn’t need your degrees, your followers, fans, friends or family to see it.

He needs a willing vessel, who will allow His voice to be louder than any other noise or voice. The Lord’s presence will still and calm every storm. He will give you peace to still you when other people try to lure you away and hinder you from moving into what He’s called you to do.

If you are suppose to homeschool or to continue homeschooling, whatever it is don’t let other people’s opinions stop it. It may be God is using you to stand to help your critics to get started as well.

Let them talk but listen to His voice as He silences your critics with He response to your past, present and future.
